The first tornado touched down after 12:30 a.m. in Clarke County, crossing I-35 south of Osceola, then lifting just southeast of town.
The National Weather Service determined peak winds likely reached 95-100 mph, making the tornado an EF-1.
A second tornado touched down in Clarke County at 12:53 a.m., crossing through the town of Woodburn. The EF-0 tornado was on the ground for just over two miles, with peak winds of 75-80 mph.
About an hour later after the first tornado, a very brief EF-0 tornado hit the edge of Prairie City.
The tornado only lasted about one minute, but its 80 mph winds took down at least one tree, damaging a garage and multiple vehicles on the east side of town.
At least 6 tornadoes statewide
These tornadoes followed three others that hit far western Iowa earlier in the night.
One of those tornadoes actually touched down less than a mile east of Minden, less than two weeks after much of the Pottawattamie County town was destroyed by an EF-3 tornado.
The NWS will continue surveying damage from these storms, so more tornado tracks could be found.
