Some officers hear a call to action. But it was the cry of a hungry baby that made an Argentine police officer spring to action, a CBS news report showed.

Officer Celeste Ayala just happens to be a mother to a newborn, so when she heard a malnourished infant crying she didn’t hesitate to breastfeed the child herself — a moment captured as a photo and posted on Facebook by her colleague Marcos Heredia.

The image has surged over the viral spectrum of internet photos receiving over 155,000 reactions, and has been shared over 111,000 times.

var parentDoc=parent.document.body,resizeFrame=function(){var e=[],t=”none”;parentDoc.clientWidth<420?(e=document.getElementsByClassName("lat-embed-small"),t="block"):(e=document.getElementsByClassName("lat-embed-small"),t="none");for(var a=0;a=420&&parentDoc.clientWidth<840?(e=document.getElementsByClassName("lat-embed-medium"),t="block"):(e=document.getElementsByClassName("lat-embed-medium"),t="none");for(var a=0;a=840?(e=document.getElementsByClassName(“lat-embed-large”),t=”block”):(e=document.getElementsByClassName(“lat-embed-large”),t=”none”);for(var a=0;a<e.length;a++)e[a].style.display=t};parent.window.addEventListener("resize",resizeFrame,!1);

“I want to make public this great gesture of love that you made today with that baby, who you did not know, but for who you did not hesitate to act like a mother,” Heredia said in the post. “Things like that are not seen every day.”

Ayala was on shift at a children’s hospital in Buenos Aires. The six-month-old baby was brought into the hospital by social workers accompanied by five other siblings, the CBS report said. All six children were malnourished. After hearing the cries of the infant girl, Ayala asked the hospital staff if she could step in to help, CBS stated.

The minister of security of the Province of Buenos Aires, Cristian Ritondo, was moved by Ayala’s gesture of love and promoted her.

“We wanted to thank you in person for that gesture of spontaneous love that managed to calm the baby’s cry,” Ritondo said on Twitter.
