George Clooney on his twins: 'I cry more than they do. I cry four times a day'

George Clooney has joked that he is so exhausted raising his newborn twins that he cries multiple times a day.
The Ocean’s Eleven star left his twins Ella and Alexander for the first time since they were born in June to attend the Venice Film Festival in Italy earlier this month to promote his latest directorial effort Suburbicon, and his wife Amal sends him pictures of the kids during his time away.
During an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, he showed the interviewer a snap and joked that he gets more emotional than they do because of the lack of sleep.
“They don’t cry... I cry more than they do. I cry four times a day right now, because I’m so tired,” he said. “Hey, remember back when you were single, before you didn’t have to worry about keeping people alive? Wasn’t that great?”
Although he is suffering, he acknowledges that he has an easier ride than his wife because the twins are so focused on food that they are mostly taken with Amal, especially Alexander, saying he has “never seen anything eat so much in my life.”
“I have such admiration for my wife because she’s breastfeeding them and getting about two hours of sleep per interval, and the love they have for her is a sight to see and it’s beautiful,” he added.
The 56-year-old admits that he knew what to expect about becoming a dad because all his friends were, but he couldn’t have prepared for the difference having twins makes.
“The surprise for me was how much more complicated twins is than just the one - it’s not just twice as much work, it’s more than that,” he explained. “And it’s not even so much work for me, because these two knuckleheads don’t even care that I exist right now!”
George never thought being a father was on the cards for him until he met Amal and because he became one so late in life, he doesn’t feel like he can consider himself an expert on raising children.
“All I can do is play catch-up and hope I’m not on a walker when I’m chasing my grown kids around!” he joked.
