(WKBN) – Women who are breastfeeding can be excused from jury duty in Ohio after a new law was signed by Governor Mike DeWine Tuesday.

House Bill 34 permits a prospective juror who is breastfeeding to be excused from service.

The new law comes as new pregnant worker rights are being expanded nationwide. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the agency in charge of enforcing the law, adopted an expansive view of conditions related to pregnancy and childbirth in its proposed regulations.
